The Hecht 540 is a 2.0 kW petrol rotary push lawn mower with robust steel chassis. Powered by a 2.7HP Hecht 4-stroke OHV engine with a maximum torque of 6.8 Nm, this stylish and powerful mower is suitable for areas up to 700m².
Hecht have been creating powerful, high quality lawn mowers since approximately 1994 and make sure their models are packed with features like large grass boxes, smooth and easy starting and central height adjustment, making these mowers suitable for use by anyone.
Easy to carry, thanks to the well designed handle, and smooth in operation because of the stylish full bearing 7” wheel assembly, the Hecht 540 is fuelled by unleaded petrol for lower emissions and is easy to maintain and handle, thanks to its 20kg weight. It has a 40 litre grass box.
The biggest thing to consider when buying a lawn mower is the size of your lawn and the type of terrain, and the powerful 2.0 kW overhead valve (OVH) engine of the Hecht 540 can handle up to 700 square metres of land with ease. OVH engines are usually found in high end machines, where their marriage of performance and fuel economy allows them to tackle the toughest lawns.
A good lawn mower also has plenty of flexibility in its cutting height, and the Hecht 540 delivers on this point too. It's important to have a wide range of options, particularly earlier in the year when spring lawns need mowing, because if you cut too low, you can damage your lawn, allowing disease to attack the weakened stalks. By leaving the grass slightly higher, you help to strengthen the grass stalks, making them more resistant to disease and allowing you to green up your lawn without the necessity for fertilisers or chemicals.
Petrol lawn mowers have several advantages over plug in electric mowers. You can reach every inch of the garden and every edge of your lawn, without any difficulty. From a safety point of view, using a petrol mower means you’ll never run the risk of accidentally cutting the power cable. Battery operated mowers offer the same flexibility and safety, but if you forget to charge the battery, you may have to wait hours before you can use your mower again.

adjustable cutting height
17 September 2018 by: Jacqueline WhitemanUnpacked the box to find a well made and robust machine , unfortunately , I was shocked to find that the ''adjustable" cutting height can only be achieved by removing the wheels in the absence of a standard lever . This to me is glaring omission and I have reluctantly returned the mower.
